FAQ

How do MSVL classes differ from other ‘online’ courses?

Most of the online courses are “asynchronous,” meaning the instructors and the students do not meet at the same time for classes, and students watch lecture recordings. These environments are thoroughly reliant on independent absorption of information.

MSVL classes, on the other hand, meet in a live classroom. The classroom is virtual, and the interactions are in real time. An instructor engages conversation with every student present, which creates a collaborative, immersive learning environment.

How long is a Course?

Course lengths vary by program. To determine the course length, visit the designated page for the program you are interested for more details or Contact Us if you have further questions.

What are the technical requirements to take a class?

You will need to have your own personal computer with high speed internet. The following baseline Internet and computer specifications are recommended to participate.

Baseline Internet Access

  • 1.5 Mbps downstream speed (3 Mbps ideal)
  • .25 Mbps upstream speed (.375 Mbps ideal)
  • Wired-in (Ethernet) connection

When and how long are class sessions?

Class typically meets for sessions of 1 to 2 hours at a time, and 1 to 3 days per week. When registering, let us know if none of the current course offerings fit your schedule. Customizable classes are available and we can coordinate meeting days and times that work best for you.

Can I take the class while traveling?

Yes. As long as the location has a sufficient Internet connection, you can take the class with you wherever you go.

I want to learn a specific dialect for a language. Can MSVL do that?

Of course! MSVL Language Training can offer dialects and cultural contexts specific to your needs. An example is a group of Portuguese students, but some students need to learn Brazilian Portuguese and culture whereas others need to learn European Portuguese and culture. MSVL can offer relevant and applicable Portuguese to both groups of students.

Contact Us if you have further questions about dialects, culture, or language offerings.

I represent a school, college or university. Can MSVL class schedules fit the schedule standards already established at our institutions?

MSVL can provide platform hosting and course support for your institution’s existing course offerings. We can bring your classes into our Virtual Classroom Environment! In these instances, class schedules are set by your institution. Whether your course schedules meet multiple days in a week, or meet for several hours at a time, MSVL can host these classes for your students on our Virtual Platform.
