One of the hardest parts of learning English is adapting one’s natural accent to the language when communicating verbally. Through MSVL’s Accent Management course, students will work with instructors to adjust their accent when speaking, depending on each student’s individual needs. The curriculum utilizes the concept of accent addition to focus on strategies needed as a listener or speaker to add the idealized Standard American English accent. This helps increase listening comprehension, improves confidence in communicating, and can even help reduce misunderstanding. MSVL offers both group and individual lessons for all types of ages and levels!

Accent Management

Structure

Accent management classes will be held in groups of 4-6 students. Those interested may register to enroll in a pre-existing course, or request to create a class with a group of individuals they know are interested in signing up as well. The amount of hours completed, meeting times, start and end dates, and curriculum are all flexible, and will be based on the students’ and instructor’s availabilities and needs.
